A typical property of the Pomerol appellation
THEChâteau Rougetis fortunate to have an exceptional terroir, typical of the appellationPomerolin which it is located. Its 17 hectares of vineyards benefit from soils composed of clay, depending on the plot, either clay-gravel or clay-siliceous, which rest on a subsoil of ferruginous iron-rich clay. Furthermore, the vineyard extends across a gentle slope of the Pomerol plateau, to the northeast ofBordeauxin theLibournais regionThus, the conditions are ideal for the development of typical Bordeaux grape varieties such as Merlot, the region's flagship grape, which accounts for 85% of the estate's plots. Another grape variety that thrives in the local terroir, Cabernet Franc, is also found on the remaining 15% of the vines. The conditions are therefore perfect for producing...very great winessought after all over the world with each vintage.

The unique expertise of Château Rouget
Meticulous work in service of truly great wines
In order to make the best possible use of the vineyard ofChâteau RougetIts owners have implemented a large number of practices optimizing thesoil qualityIndeed, the domain is managed according to the principle ofintegrated pest managementwith grass cover and soil cultivation. Furthermore, the harvest is done entirely by hand, allowing the grapes to be sorted first, then a second time on a double sorting table. The grape picking is also done in several stages, so that the berries are only harvested when they have reached a certain point.perfect ripenessThe ripeness and balance of the grapes is indeed a key point in the production of great wines, so Château Rouget pays close attention to this point, notably by carefully choosing the date of the harvest and the moment of picking each bunch.
During the winemaking process, great care is again taken to obtain the best possible vintage. Thus, theLabruyère familyinvested in 2001 in the renovation of the cellars and vat room in order to adapt the winemaking process to apartial approachTherefore, the grapes are vinified separately by plot, allowing each to fully express its unique character and potential. All this expertise, applied to Château Rouget, makes it possible to create, each vintage, a wine with a bouquet worthy of the greatest wines, full of nobility while offering a resolutely modern style.
