      Siran Castle from the 15th century to today

      A family history spanning over 150 years

      THEChâteau Siranwas born in1428, whenGuilhem de SiranHe became the owner by swearing a feudal oath at the church of Macau to the Abbot of Sainte-Croix in Bordeaux. He thus gave his name to the vineyards attached to this parish. The wine produced quickly became renowned for its high quality. Furthermore, Château Siran has the distinction of being one of the few Bordeaux châteaux to have belonged to the same family for over 150 years. Indeed, in 1859, theMiailhe familyacquired the property, succeeding the Toulouse-Lautrec family. Since then, five generations have succeeded one another at the head of the estate with the aim ofrespecting family traditionand to constantly improve the quality of the wines produced. Thus, since 2007,Edouard Miailhetook over from his parents, Brigitte and Alain, at the head of the property.Hubert DeBouärdalso assists the owners of Château Siran in the management of the vineyard and the winemaking process.

      An exceptional terroir dedicated to great wines

      THEChâteau Sirancan boast of resting on aexceptional terroirwhich immediately places it among the greatest. Indeed, at the heart of the very famous appellationMargauxa few kilometers north of Bordeaux, the25 hectaresThe vineyards benefit from soil with incredible qualities. Indeed, composed mainly ofgravel and pebbles,Rainwater is retained very little, creating a certain amount of water stress. This forces the vines to send their roots very deep into the soil to draw nourishment. The result could not be better: it gives the wines all the typicity of the terroir and a unique character, specific to the finest vintages.

      Regarding grape varieties, Château Siran has selected the most typical of the Bordeaux region, all red. 46% of the vineyard is planted with Merlot, 40% with Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% with Petit Verdot, and 1% with Cabernet Franc. The decision to dedicate a relatively large proportion to Petit Verdot, which is usually much less prevalent, gives the estate's wines a certain distinctive character.originalitycompared to other Bordeaux châteaux, with a ratingspicy finish typical of this grape variety.

      Several exceptional vintages produced each year

      To have aquality terroiris certainly important in the success of a castle, but it is not enough ifthe know-howis not there. Fortunately for theChâteau Siran, its owners have been committed for centuries to working with ahigh precisionThus, vineyard work is carried out plot by plot in order to adapt the care given to the most specific needs of each vine. As for the harvest, it is done entirely by hand and only when the grapes have reached a certain stage of ripeness.ideal ripenessThey are then collected in crates and meticulously sorted before and after destemming to select only the best. Winemaking and aging utilize the latest technologies in order torespecting the quality of the berriesand extract the best they have to offer.

      Thus, Château Siran produces powerful yet refined wines, vintage after vintage, with elegant tannins and exceptional fruity aromas. Regarding the different cuvées produced, you will have the choice between the first wine “Château Siran”, the second wine “S de Siran”, and finally the “Saint-Jacques de Siran” cuvée, produced under the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. Furthermore, truewines for aging, or even long-aged, you can keep them in a cellar for several years in order to savor all their charms when tasting them.
