The Médoc appellation takes its name from the river that borders it. Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety used for red wine, is grown in this region, alongside other varieties such as Merlot, to produce splendid blended wines. It is in this land that you'll find grand cru wines like Château de Potensac. Discover other great Médoc wines on the Cavissima website.

The Médoc AOC is very large, covering approximately 5,800 hectares. It benefits from a clay-limestone subsoil with fantastic gravelly hillocks, which give rise to structured and balanced wines . Their power calls for patience: we advise you to wait a few years before enjoying them. Wines produced outside these hillocks are less structured, more subtle, and can be enjoyed in their early years.

          Château Potensac

Château Potensac has always been in the Delon family. The 84 hectares of vines are planted in the commune of Ordonnac, on limestone subsoil covered with gravelly hillocks. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc have been cultivated here for a long time: some plots are over 80 years old!

The grand vin is the only Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the Médoc appellation. It is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon , Merlot , and Petit Verdot . It is rich and fresh, with a very powerful, aromatic palate and spicy tannins.

Chapelle de Potensac is the second wine , created in the 2002 vintage. It is made from the same grape varieties as Château Potensac . It is a round and fresh, balanced, very pleasant wine.

          Château Poitevin

Château Poitevin cultivates 41 hectares of vines in Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac. Guillaume Poitevin, who manages the estate today, has implemented sustainable farming practices and eco-responsible viticulture; the estate is also Terra Vitis certified. The Château won the Crus Bourgeois Cup in 2012.

The grand vin is a Cru Bourgeois . After 12 months of aging in oak barrels, it has a deep color and a rich, powerful palate. Its aging potential is remarkable.

The second wine is called Lamothe-Pontac. It comes from younger vines , but benefits from the same care and aging process as its older sibling. It is a fine and balanced wine , with notes of black fruit and spice.

The Château also produces a 100% Merlot red wine, named Original IT. Easy-drinking, it's ready to drink now!

Finally, Château Moulin de Canhaut is the latest addition, a blend of half Merlot and half Cabernet. It is characterized by aromas of red fruit and spices, and a beautiful ruby color.
