An Exceptional and Vertical Terroir

THE domaine extends over approximately 18 hectares, mainly within the appellation Côte-Rôtiebut also in Condrieu And Coteaux du Lyonnais.

• The terraces: The vineyard is characterized by "chayées" (narrow terraces) on slopes that can reach 50% incline. Everything is done by hand, as mechanization is impossible.

• Geology: The subsoil is composed mainly of mica schists, a metamorphic rock which gives the wines a straightforward minerality and a singular aromatic finesse.

Pioneers of Organic Farming and Respect for Life

THE domaine was one of the forerunners of the organic movement in the region.

• Certification: They are certified in Organic Farming since the 1990s (Ecocert), a feat considering the difficulty of working hillside vineyards without chemical herbicides.

• Mass Selection: Rather than using industrial clones, the family cultivates its own old "Petite Syrah" vines, thus preserving the genetic diversity and aromatic complexity of their vines.

The Flagship Wines

The Clusel-Roch signature can be recognized when looking for freshness and elegance rather than raw power or excessive woodiness.

1. Les Grandes Places : La cuvée legendary. Originating from lieu-dit exceptional, it offers deep, complex wines with immense aging potential.

2. Viallière: A wine that expresses all the finesse of the schist, often marked by floral notes (violet) and fine spices.

3. Classic: An assemblage of different plots that represents the overall identity of the domaine : balance and drinkability.

The Style of Domaine

Winemaking is minimally interventionist. New oak is used sparingly so as not to mask the terroir. The wines are renowned for their fruit purity and their silky tannic structure, far from Côte-Rôtie sometimes too extracted.

It's a domaine for lovers of fine wines, where behind each bottle you can feel the manual labor and deep respect for the plant.
