The Hamlet of Blagny: The Beating Heart

The unique characteristic of domaine is its anchoring to BlagnyThis historic hamlet, situated overlooking the hills of Meursault, has a microclimate that is cooler than the lower part of the valley.

• Altitude: The vineyards reach their highest point between 300 and 380 metersThis strategic position is a blessing in the face of global warming, as it helps to maintain a natural acidity and tension that is sometimes lost in the plains.

• The Double Identity: THE domaine It plays on two prestigious fronts. Depending on the plot, the wines boast the floral elegance of Puligny-Montrachet or the mineral structure of Meursault-Blagny.

A Heritage of Vieilles Vignes

The vineyard extends over approximately 9 hectaresBut what is impressive is the average age of the plant material:

• The majority of the vines have more than 60 years oldand some plots of Puligny were planted just after the Second World War (1945).

• These old ladies produce very small concentrated berries, capable of transcribing with "laser" precision the nuances of the limestone subsoil.

THE Monopole The Genelotte

The flagship of domaine is undoubtedly the Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru "La Genelotte".

• It's a monopoleThis means that the de Cherisey family is the sole owner and operator of this historic plot (a former clos of Cistercian monks).

• This vineyard is located on the highest and rockiest part, producing wines of incredible purity, almost "naked" of any oaky artifice.

A Whispering Viticulture

Laurent Martelet does not seek to tame nature, but to listen to it:

• Soil preparation: Light tilling to respect microbial life and force roots to penetrate the rock.

• Low-intervention winemaking: The wine uses indigenous yeasts, very gentle pressing, and above all, extremely limited use of new oak barrels (often less than 10-15%). The aim is never to mask the salinity of the terroir with the taste of vanilla or toast.

The Cherisey style: If you like buttery, opulent Chardonnays, look elsewhere. Here, we're looking for the mineral shiver, the purity of white fruit and a saline finish reminiscent of iodine or chalk.
