Chinon

In the Loire Valley , the Chinon AOC encompasses 2,400 hectares of vineyards . It extends across 26 communes surrounding the town of Chinon. A large part of the vineyard is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized as an "outstanding cultural landscape." The Chinon region is enclosed to the west and northeast by forests, which protect it from extreme temperature variations, northerly winds, and cold weather. It enjoys the warmest and driest climate in Touraine. This protected terroir is based on tuffeau, a chalky, clay-limestone soil, with clay-sand formations in some areas.

The majority of red and rosé wines produced there are made from Cabernet Franc , but also white wine made from Chenin, or Pineau de Loire.

Fabrice Gasnier Estate

The Gasnier family has been cultivating vines for 4 generations: three hectares in mixed farming at the start, thirty hectares of vines today! The entire estate is run biodynamically and organically , with Demeter and Ecocert certifications .

Domaine Fabrice Gasnier produces 9 red wines and 2 rosé wines divided into 3 ranges: Les Origines, Les Essentielles and Les Confidentielles.

Les Origines offers three red wine cuvées: “L'Ancienne”, “Signature” (made from the estate's original plots), and “La Queue de Poelon”. In addition to these red wines, there is also a white wine cuvée , “Le Coteau de Sonnay”.

The Les Essentielles range is more varied. It includes a still rosé, “Le Rosé”, and a sparkling rosé, “La Cravantine”. Two red wines are also included, “Les Graves” and “Vieilles vignes”.

Finally, Les Confidentielles consists of a natural red wine, “L'Éthique Nature”, to be drunk quickly; and two classic red wines, “Les Cinq Arpents” and “L'Insoupçonnée”.

Charles Joguet

Domaine Charles Joguet was founded by the man of the same name in 1957. In 1983, Michel Pinard joined him in this adventure and then in 1985, the Genet family who manage the estate today.

Domaine Charles Joguet produces 10 different wines of Chinon: red , rosé and white.

In red Chinon, we can mention the Terroir and La Cure cuvées, Les Petites Roches, Les Charmes, Les Varennes du Grand Clos, Clos du Chêne Vert and Clos de la Dioterie.

“Clos de la Plante Martin” is a very enjoyable white Chinon, which is sometimes available in a sweet version: “Nectar de la Plante Martin”.

There is only one vintage of rosé, which therefore bears an evocative name: “Le Rosé”.
