A true family story
THEBaumard Estateis located about twenty kilometers from Angers, in Rochefort, in theLoire Valleyand more specifically toLogis de la Giraudière, an 18th-century manor house. The existence of this vineyard dates back to 1634, the earliest period for which traces of vines have been found in the region. However, the estate as we know it today was only established in1955 by Jean Baumard,when he became the owner. After training in oenology in Dion and Bordeaux, he undertook the expansion of the vineyard, purchasing five new hectares in Quarts de Chaume in 1957, then consolidating fifteen hectares in Savennières in 1968. Domaine de Baumard would then become the leading estate in the Loire Valley.spread across both banks of the riverIn 1987,Florent BaumardHe will join his father at the head of the family estate after having in turn trained in oenology and viticulture. Chenin Blanc, or Pineau de la Loire, accounts for 95% of this, and Chardonnay for 5%.
