The origins of Domaine Alain Jaume

        A family story

It all began in the 14th century, when the Popes had the papal castle built in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and developed a vineyard there.Jaume family, which is located in the north, has been established there since 1826 and perpetuates its know-how and passion from generation to generation.

However, the real boom in the field occurred in 1979, thanks toAlain Jaume, with the creation of theDomaine Grand Veneur. At that time, the vineyard only extended over9.5 hectares, with half located inChâteauneuf-du-Papeand the other inCôtes-du-RhôneHaving become a veritable empire, the vineyardsAlain Jaumehave only continued to grow. Today, after acquiring numerous plots of land, the entire property spans four estates and 150 hectares, located in the finest appellations: theDomaine Grand VeneurinChâteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Château Mazane in Vacqueyras and Domaine la Grangette Saint-Joseph in Côtes-du-Rhône.

Since 2003,Christophe and Sébastien JaumeAlain Jaume's children joined the family adventure, followed by...HelenIn 2013, the last of the family passed away. Ultimately, with each new arrival, a new land acquisition took place. In parallel, the family also developed a wine trading business in partnership with winemakers in the Gigondas, Tavel, Côtes du Ventoux, Rasteau, and Cairanne appellations. A wine tourism activity was also established, calledAlain Jaume's TableThe aim is to introduce tourists to the entire environment of the Jaume family, with a tour of the vineyard, the cellars, a meal and several guided tastings.

The winemaking process at Domaine Alain Jaume

Wines with a distinctive character, made for aging.

In total, the harvest lasts approximately one month. Each grape variety is then vinified separately. This allows each grape to develop its own aromatic identity, character, and particularities.

Within the vineyardsAlain JaumeThe red wines are made from Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes. They are then aged underground at a temperature of 15°C for 14 months. While the Grenache is aged in concrete tanks, the Syrah and Mourvèdre are aged in French oak barrels. The white wines are made from Clairette, Roussanne, and Viognier grapes.

Generally speaking, Alain Jaume wines are made for aging. The single-vineyard wines "Les Origines" and "Vieilles Vignes" can indeed be kept for 30 to 40 years!
