Notes and pairings

Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

The Château Clinet 2024 boasts a deep red color with garnet highlights. The nose is expressive, blending notes of black cherry, ripe plum, sweet spices, and a subtle touch of oak. On the palate, the attack is ample, the tannins silky, and the texture velvety. The finish, persistent and harmonious, lingers with aromas of licorice and dark chocolate. A great Pomerol that is rich, elegant, and perfectly balanced.

Food & wine pairings

Ideal with a Rossini beef fillet, roast pigeon or veal chop with morels.

The Château Clinet vineyard covers approximately 11 hectares on the renowned Pomerol plateau, west of Libourne. The soil here consists of gravel over deep clay, particularly well-suited to Merlot, the region's flagship grape variety. This unique geological configuration allows for optimally ripened grapes, rich in polyphenols and aromas. The vines, of relatively high average age, are cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with meticulous attention paid to each plot. This rigorous approach to vineyard management ensures controlled yields and exceptional fruit quality, a true reflection of the great Pomerol terroir.

Owner and history

Since 1998, Château Clinet has been managed by Ronan Laborde, who took over the estate at the age of 20. Under his leadership, the property has seen a remarkable rise in quality, combining modernity with respect for tradition. Ronan has surrounded himself with a passionate team, investing in state-of-the-art equipment and practicing sustainable viticulture. His vision is to produce exceptional wines that faithfully reflect the identity of the Pomerol terroir. Thanks to this uncompromising commitment, Château Clinet has established itself as a leading name in the appellation, appreciated by wine lovers and collectors worldwide.

Vinification and aging

Château Clinet vinifies each plot separately to preserve the identity of each terroir. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with gentle pump-overs, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels.
The 2024 vintage is then aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new (often around 70%), to impart structure, complexity, and aging potential. This long and meticulous aging process allows the wine to harmonize gently, gain texture, and develop its refined bouquet before bottling.
