The Château Rauzan-Ségla vineyard covers approximately 50 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The soils, composed of gravel and clay, offer excellent natural drainage and promote optimal grape ripening. The region's temperate oceanic climate, with its mild winters and sunny summers, contributes to the production of highly complex wines. Careful vineyard management, employing sustainable viticulture practices, optimizes grape quality while preserving the ecological balance of the terroir.

Owner and history

Since 1994, Château Rauzan-Ségla has belonged to the House of Chanel, renowned for its commitment to excellence and luxury. The current owners have invested in modernizing the estate while respecting its history and heritage. The Wertheimer family's passion for wine and viticulture is reflected in every vintage, ensuring that each bottle tells the story of its terroir. Their vision is to produce wines that are not only of exceptional quality but also embody the tradition and modernity of Bordeaux.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Rauzan-Ségla is a meticulous and respectful process. The grapes are harvested by hand, allowing for rigorous selection. After careful destemming, the berries are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, promoting a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging takes place in oak barrels, 40% of which are new, for approximately 18 months. This crucial stage gives the wine its structure, aromatic richness, and complexity, while preserving the identity of the Margaux terroir.
