    Owner and history

In Saint-Estèphe on the banks of the Gironde, the Château Montrose vineyard covers an area of 95 hectares. The vineyard comprises vines averaging 35 years old, rooted in gravelly soil and a subsoil of clay-marl layer. La Dame de Montrose was created in 1983 in homage to Yvonne Charmolue. She managed Château Montrose alone between 1944 and 1960. Her production represents on average 30% of the total production.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand and at optimal phenolic ripeness. The wine is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and then aged in French oak barrels from various origins for 12 months, with 30% new barrels.
