    Tasting notes

The Opus One 2022 boasts a deep ruby-red color. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of black fruit, blackcurrant, and cherry, mingled with delicate notes of dark chocolate and spice. On the palate, the attack is velvety, supported by silky tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish is long and persistent, leaving an impression of ripe fruit and woody nuances.

The Opus One vineyard stretches across gentle slopes, where the Californian climate promotes optimal grape ripening. The diverse soils, composed of gravel, clay, and silt, impart a mineral richness to the wines. Each plot is meticulously cultivated, allowing the grape varieties to fully express themselves. The vines, some several decades old, benefit from artisanal expertise, guaranteeing consistent quality and a unique identity in each vintage.

    Owner and history

Today, Opus One is run by the Rothschild family, who passionately continue the legacy of its founder. While respecting Robert Mondavi's heritage, the house continues to innovate and push the boundaries of winemaking excellence. The family philosophy is based on respect for the terroir and a commitment to sustainable practices, helping to preserve the integrity of the land while producing wines of unparalleled quality.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Opus One 2022 is meticulous, blending tradition and innovation. The hand-harvested grapes are carefully destemmed and sorted. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels, some of which are new. This aging process, lasting approximately 18 months, allows the aromas to develop and the wine to gain structure. The final blend is the result of a quest for balance, aiming to capture the essence of the terroir and the estate's vision.
