Centuries of history at Château Gravas
The work of the Bernard family

From this decision emerged, among other things, theChâteau Gravas.
It initially consisted of one hectare. It was from 1930 onwards that the vineyard expanded, eventually reaching its current size. Today theBernard familyis in charge of the operation. With a team of passionate people, the castle tells its story both in France and internationally.
Florence and Michel BernardThey make the property a crossroads of French culture and art de vivre. Between wine tastings and exhibitions of contemporary artists, the property is a major cultural hub in the region.
The terroir of Haut-Barsac
A sweet Sauternes, white and red
Located in the region ofHaut-BarsacThe vines, averaging 35 years old, benefit from an advantageous location. The morning humidity and the warm Bordeaux afternoons allow the grapes to develop noble rot, which is essential for producing sweet wines. However, the estate doesn't only produce dry or sweet white wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot also yield red wine, contributing to the Château's unique character.
The terroir ofChâteau Gravasis rich. Contrary to what the château's name might suggest, gravel soils are only very rare in the appellation. The white and red grape varieties are planted across 20 hectares of clay and fissured limestone soil. Thanks to these geological characteristics, the vines can send their roots deep into the soil. In this way, the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon grapes concentrate their aromas perfectly and reveal the terroir.
Sustainable viticulture is practiced on this exceptional terroir.
a place for the expression of passions
Between vineyards and art
It's aclose-knit teamwhich ensures the viticulture and winemaking of the five grape varieties grown atChâteau GravasThe grapes are harvested by hand. The berries are then placed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The grape varieties are vinified separately for each plot, according to the way they are cultivated.
They are then placed in oak barrels for an aging period of 18 months. These are fresh, subtle and elegant wines that reveal themselves upon tasting.
Besides the winemaking which is the pride of theBernard familyThe Château hosts artists for exhibitions. In this way, the estate has earned the "Vineyard and Discovery" label. The wine cellar then displays artworks, much to the delight of visitors. The family, who have a close relationship with contemporary artist Paul Flickinger, entrusts him with the visual identity of each of their vintages. The Château's unique character is thus defined as much by its contents as by its presentation.
