Volnay is a village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, encompassing the communes of Volnay and Meursault in the Côte d'Or. Located between Pommard and Meursault, Volnay benefits from soils of white limestone and clay. The appellation covers 213 hectares, of which 126 are Premier Cru, producing 8,400 hectoliters of wine and 4,660 liters of Premier Cru wine.

Volnay is vinified exclusively as a red wine, made from Pinot Noir grapes. The vines are located between 230 and 280 meters above sea level.

The appellation has existed since 1937. The diversity of the terroir allows for the production of wines with a very wide aromatic range. Volnay benefits from early ripening.

Traditionally, Volnay wines are described as feminine in contrast to the masculine expression of Pommard. Their ruby color and nose of red fruit and flowers are charming. The best vintages can develop beautiful aromas of sweet spices and game. A decade or more of aging allows these wines to fully open up. They are ideally served between 14 and 18°C.
