The Domaine de l'île: a family story

Porquerolles, the cradle of the Le Ber family

François-Joseph Fournier buysthe island of Porquerollesin 1910 and offered it to his wife as a wedding gift. They both emphasized the island's viticultural character and developed wine production on the terroir ofPorquerollesIn 1957, the island was divided among the businessman's four daughters. All but Lélia Fournier sold their shares to the state. She decided to keep her land and plant vines with her husband, Monsieur Le Ber. Their son, Sébastien, took over and developed this iconic vineyard.

In 2019, the estate was transferred to theChanel House.Sébastien Le Ber worked for two years in close collaboration with Nicolas Audebert, who now manages the estate. This gradual handover allowed them to share knowledge and ensure the continuation of the Le Ber family's spirit and vision for the estate's management.Domaine de L'île.

Local character and specific features

The island of Porquerolles, a jewel of beauty

The estate's vineyard is at the heart ofthe island of Porquerollesbetween land and sea, both protected areas. The Port Cros National Park was created in 1963 to protect these fragile territories of the island. Part of the vineyard lies within the park, and this commitment to protecting natural heritage has been reflected in the management of the estate since its inception.

The 30-hectare vineyard estate is certified inOrganic Farmingsince 2015. This approach is part of a deep desire to respect the precious terroir ofPorquerollesBetween ecology and the desire for preservation, the link to the territory and the terroir is at the heart of wine production.

Today, the vineyard requires some restructuring, including the planting of some Rolle vines. The aim is not to change the grape varieties but rather to revitalize some aging plots.

The spirit of wines

Minerality as a signature

Between generosity and freshness, the terroir allows for the expression of a beautiful minerality in the wines. The estate produces appellation wines.Côtes de Provencewith over 80% rosé, 15 to 20% white, and the rest red. Today, the production of wines fromIsland Estaterepresents approximately 1200 hectoliters.

The rosé wines are made from blends ofSyrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Tibouren and CinsaultThey are appreciated for their aromas of red fruit and citrus. Of course, these wines stand out for their minerality and their almost saline touch on the finish.
White comes from therolleThis grape variety allows for a combination of fruitiness with floral notes and a long finish.
Finally, the red, composed of syrah and grenache, offers a wine of character, spicy and very aromatic.
