The vision and values of the winemakers
A FAMILY BOUND BY INDEPENDENCE
Freedom and commitment are the two cornerstones that underpin all initiatives of theGenoux areaFor five generations. Proudly independent, André and Daniel cultivate the vines of Savoy after a detour into teaching and nursing. Yann Pernuit also supports the initiatives of the two owners: and all are committed to thethe most natural cultivation possibleof these lands.
Having farmed organically since the beginning, the family did not obtain certificationEcocert, followed by that ofBiodyvin, than in 2009 (after in particular the re-cultivation of old hillsides).
"We must let time take its course."
Fervent advocates of vine cultivation based on thelunar calendarThe two winemakers make it a point of honor to let nature take its course. The grape varieties thus benefit from realistic and fair cultivation, and above all, the attention they need to express all the typicity of the high mountain terroir.
The history of the Genoux estate
A RETURN TO OUR ROOTS
History has shown that the Savoyard lands have been cultivating wine for a long time (since the time of the Allobroges in Antiquity). Those of theGenoux areahave been cultivated by the same family sincefive generationsThey actively participate in environmental preservation and the revitalization of the Savoyard terroir. It's no secret that the temperate mountain climate has made life difficult for all the region's winemakers. However, this obstacle hasn't hindered the estate's rise, and that's fortunate!
THE12 hectaresThe Genoux vineyards are situated on hillside and glacial moraine soils. The red grape varieties (Mondeuse 95%, Gamay 3%, and Persan 2%) cover 9 hectares, while the white grape varieties (Roussanne 56%, Altesse 37%, and Jacquère 7%) flourish on 3 hectares. This distribution allows the full expression of the unique character of the limestone soils formed by glacial erosion.
Cultivated with the utmost respect for the earth, the lunar and astral phases, the vineyardprioritizes qualityto the quantity with its small yield inbiodynamicscertified by Ecocert and Biodyvin.
Viticulture and winemaking
Biodynamic, natural and fully developed wines
It all begins at the foot of the vines, with the passage of draft horses that work to maintain the vineyard. The fertilizer used, composed of plants, minerals, and animal byproducts, allows for a complete elimination of chemical constraints. In addition to this meticulous cultivation, following the lunar cycles allows for a total liberation from conventional methods.
Proud to offer anatural wine, the members of theGenoux familyThey harvested by hand, and vinified in a way that did not damage the wine.
The Genoux estate is the result of a skillful communion between fauna and flora: The result?A biodynamic, natural and fully developed wine.
