He purchased over 240 hectares of land on a ranch located not far from Saint Helena and began planting vines. The cuvéeInsigniaIt is a blend of several grape varieties, but is characterized by its high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The first vintage of Insignia was released in 1974 and became an iconic wine, a status it retains to this day.
