The Château Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard stretches across deep gravelly slopes, typical of the Médoc, resting on a clay-limestone base. These pebbles, heated by the sun during the day, release their heat at night, promoting even ripening of the grapes. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are carefully cultivated according to sustainable viticultural principles, guaranteeing the quality of the grapes and the true expression of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has belonged to the Borie family, a long line of Médoc winemakers, since 1941. Bruno-Eugène Borie, who has managed the estate since 2003, brings a modern, demanding, and environmentally conscious vision. His unwavering commitment to excellence and precision has elevated La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou to the ranks of Bordeaux's finest second wines. Thanks to rigorous plot selection and meticulous winemaking, the estate continues to write its story brilliantly.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking at Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is carried out plot by plot with rigorous temperature control and gentle extractions to preserve the brilliance of the fruit.
The 2020 Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new, giving the wine depth, complexity, and aging potential. This refined aging process defines the elegant structure of this cuvée, true to the Ducru style.
