The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste vineyard stretches across gravelly and pebbly hillocks, typical of the Pauillac appellation. This well-drained soil encourages deep root systems, allowing the vines to fully express the richness of the terroir. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from optimal sunshine and natural ventilation, ensuring even ripening of the grapes. The temperate oceanic climate, characterized by mild winters and hot summers, also contributes to the flourishing of the grape varieties. This synergy between soil, climate, and winemaking expertise gives rise to wines of great aromatic complexity and remarkable longevity.

    Owner and history

Since 1978, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is run by the Borie family, who have preserved and developed the heritage of this grand cru. Jean-Charles Borie, the current owner, makes it a point of honor to combine tradition and modernity in the management of the domaine. Passionate about his craft, he ensures that every step, from vine cultivation to winemaking, is carried out with the utmost care. The Borie family is also committed to environmental responsibility, adopting sustainable viticultural practices. Their goal is to produce wines that faithfully reflect their terroir and bear the imprint of their history and family passion.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste This winery is characterized by its blend of tradition and innovation. The carefully selected grapes are destemmed before being vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This method allows for precise temperature control during fermentation, promoting the extraction of aromas and tannins. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, a third of which are renewed annually, for 12 to 18 months. This meticulous barrel aging imparts subtle woody notes to the wine while preserving the expression of the terroir. The aim is to achieve perfect harmony between fruit and oak, resulting in a balanced and elegant wine.
