    Description

The 2014 Clos des Goisses is a fascinating expression of this legendary terroir. While the 2013 was marked by a vibrant tension, the 2014 vintage is distinguished by a masterful balance between aromatic generosity and impeccable saline precision .

The year 2014 in Champagne was marked by contrasts, with a magnificent spring followed by a cool and rainy summer, before a welcome return of sunshine in September. For Clos des Goisses, this climate allowed for perfect phenolic ripeness while preserving great elegance.

    Tasting notes

This exceptional champagne will perfectly complement roasted lobster, turbot in sauce, truffled poultry, or even aged Comté cheese. Ideally served between 10 and 12°C to fully appreciate its aromatic nuances.

    Producer

    Producer

Throughout its history, Maison Philipponnat has built a twenty-hectare vineyard of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, ideally located in the heart of Champagne, while maintaining close relationships with partner winegrowers who entrust their production to them. These relationships contribute to a broad yet highly consistent range of Champagnes that are both rich and precise.

    Owner and history

Clos des Goisses covers 5.5 hectares of a steep, south-facing slope, making it one of the warmest terroirs in Champagne. This vineyard rests on pure limestone subsoil, promoting excellent grape ripening and imparting a vibrant minerality to the wines. Thanks to this unique location, Clos des Goisses produces highly concentrated Champagnes, built for aging.

    Vinification and aging

The 2014 Clos des Goisses is vinified with partial fermentation in oak barrels, adding further complexity to the wine. Malolactic fermentation is intentionally blocked to preserve the vintage's tension and freshness. Aging on the lees lasts for nearly ten years, developing refined aromas and a silky texture. This traditional method gives the wine its exceptional longevity and unique aromatic complexity.

    The team's opinion

While already dazzling today after decanting, the 2014 Clos des Goisses possesses immense aging potential. It is a wine that will continue to gain depth and tertiary notes (honey, undergrowth) over the next 15 to 20 years.
