Owner and history

Hermitage is one of the most prestigious terroirs in the Rhône Valley. The vines of L'Ermite Blanc are planted on the slopes of the renowned Hermitage hillside, in pure granite soil, which gives the wine its distinctive minerality and exceptional aging potential. These plots, situated at an altitude of over 200 meters, benefit from ideal sun exposure, promoting slow and optimal ripening of the grapes. Thanks to biodynamic viticulture, the soils are preserved and the vines express themselves fully, producing berries of rare concentration, essential to the aromatic signature of L'Ermite Blanc.

Vinification and aging

At Chapoutier, winemaking meticulously respects the identity of the terroir. After a careful hand-harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed before being vinified in oak barrels, with regular lees stirring to add volume and complexity. Aging on fine lees lasts approximately 10 to 12 months, allowing the wine to acquire a rich texture and refined structure, while retaining a beautiful freshness. This extended aging process gives L'Ermite Blanc exceptional depth and aging potential.
