The Château Angélus vineyard stretches across clay-limestone slopes, benefiting from a temperate oceanic climate. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are cultivated with care, respecting the principles of sustainable viticulture. This approach helps preserve biodiversity and ensures optimal grape quality. The soils, rich in limestone and clay, promote natural drainage, essential for the ripening of the grapes. The microclimate of Saint-Émilion, with its variations in temperature and sunshine, contributes to the unique expression of the grape varieties grown on this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Currently managed by the de Boüard family, Château Angélus is in the hands of one of Bordeaux's most respected winemakers, Hubert de Boüard. Passionate about his terroir, he has modernized the estate while preserving its heritage. Thanks to his commitment to excellence, Angélus has gained renown, rising to the ranks of the world's greatest wines. The de Boüard family, while deeply rooted in tradition, constantly innovates to offer wines that tell a story—the story of their land, their passion, and their expertise.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Angélus is a meticulous and thoughtful process. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring rigorous selection. After delicate destemming, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for a gentle extraction of aromas. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, some of which are new. This essential step imparts complexity and depth to the wine, while respecting the authenticity of the grape varieties. Each vintage is carefully blended to reveal the unique identity of Château Angélus.
