The Château Rieussec vineyard stretches across clay-limestone soils, ideal for cultivating noble grape varieties. The proximity of the Ciron River creates a perfect microclimate, promoting grape ripening and the development of noble rot, an essential element in the production of Sauternes. The old vines, some over 40 years old, are meticulously tended, resulting in grapes concentrated in sugars and aromas.

Owner and history

Currently managed by the Cordier family, Château Rieussec is the fruit of a passion passed down through generations. Their attentive and respectful approach to viticulture aims to maintain the estate's heritage while integrating modern practices. This duality between tradition and innovation is the guiding principle of their philosophy, thus ensuring the longevity of their wines and their worldwide renown.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Rieussec is a meticulous process. The grapes, carefully hand-harvested, are gently pressed to preserve their integrity. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, where the wine acquires its complexity and character. Aging on fine lees for several months imparts a creamy texture to the wine, while allowing the aromas to refine. This meticulous work reflects the estate's commitment to the pursuit of excellence.

The team's opinion

A golden nectar with delicate aromas of ripe apricot and fresh pineapple, enhanced by candied citrus zest and floral notes of chamomile and acacia. On the palate, the balance is remarkable: the texture is opulent yet lifted by a mentholated and lemony freshness, which extends into a clean finish of blood orange peel.
