The Cheval des Andes vineyard is situated between 1,000 and 1,200 meters above sea level, on the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The alluvial soils, rich in pebbles and sand, ensure excellent drainage. The continental climate, with its cool nights and sunny days, allows for a slow and complete ripening of the grapes, promoting their concentration and complexity. The vines, cultivated using sustainable farming practices, benefit from meticulous care to fully express the unique character of this high-altitude terroir.

    Owner and history

Cheval des Andes was born from a collaboration between Pierre Lurton (Château Cheval Blanc) and the Terrazas de los Andes estate, two leading figures in the wine world. This Franco-Argentine synergy aims to produce the "Grand Cru of South America." Under the current direction of Gérald Gabillet, the estate is pushing viticultural and oenological precision even further, affirming a sustainable and ambitious vision of excellence. Thanks to this commitment, Cheval des Andes is today one of Argentina's greatest wines, recognized worldwide.

    Vinification and aging

At the estate, winemaking adheres to rigorous methods, including hand-harvesting, meticulous sorting, and fermentation in stainless steel and concrete tanks. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for approximately 18 months, some of which are new.
For the 2020 vintage, this precise work yields a harmonious wine, both powerful and refined, whose structure and freshness suggest a great aging potential.
