    Description

Nestled between the sea and the hills, Clos Cibonne is an iconic Côtes-de-Provence estate, located a stone's throw from Toulon. Named after the Marquis de Cibon, its former owner, the estate has established itself as a champion of a rare indigenous grape variety: Tibouren . Thanks to a perfectly suited Mediterranean climate and a philosophy centered on the authenticity of the terroir, Clos Cibonne wines offer a unique expression of Provence. The 2023 Tradition "Spéciale Tibouren" red cuvée perfectly illustrates this singular identity, combining tradition, finesse, and originality.

The Clos Cibonne vineyard stretches across south-facing schist slopes, benefiting from abundant sunshine and the influence of the sea. The soil, composed of schist and clay, encourages deep root development and imparts a beautiful minerality to the wine. Tibouren, the estate's signature grape variety, finds its ideal terroir here, revealing its full aromatic potential. The vines are over 40 years old and cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with a constant focus on respecting the environment and promoting the Provençal winemaking heritage.

    Owner and history

Today, the estate is managed by the Deforge family, who have been carrying on the legacy of Clos Cibonne for generations. Their deep commitment to promoting Tibouren and their passion for characterful wines have allowed the estate to reclaim its place among the great names of Provence. Their vision, blending respect for the terroir, subtle innovation, and the passing down of knowledge, is reflected in each vintage by consistent quality and a distinctive style. Thanks to their meticulous work, Clos Cibonne is now celebrated for its uniqueness and its contribution to the revival of Provençal red wines.

    Vinification and aging

At Clos Cibonne, winemaking is carried out in accordance with regional traditions. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, and then vinified in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit.
The Tradition "Special Tibouren" 2023 Red wine benefits from an atypical aging process of 12 to 18 months in century-old oak casks, under a veil of yeast, a method inspired by oxidative wines which gives a singular texture and a very original aromatic profile.
