Classified as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855, it is distinguished by its centuries-old history and exceptional winemaking expertise. Clarence de Haut-Brion, the estate's second wine, faithfully reflects the elegance, complexity, and controlled power of its older sibling. The Château Haut-Brion vineyard stretches across deep gravelly soils mixed with clay, providing excellent drainage and optimal grape ripeness. Carefully planted, the Clarence vines benefit from the region's emblematic grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The temperate oceanic climate allows for beautiful aromatic expression and a balanced structure. The estate prioritizes sustainable viticultural practices, promoting the natural balance of the vines.

    Owner and history

Owned by the Dillon family since 1935, Château Haut-Brion is now managed by Prince Robert of Luxembourg. With the support of the technical teams at Domaine Clarence Dillon, it maintains an unwavering commitment to quality. Dedicated to sustainable viticulture, the owners have successfully combined tradition and innovation to elevate each vintage. Clarence de Haut-Brion, created in homage to Clarence Dillon, reflects this precious heritage in a more accessible yet equally refined expression.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Haut-Brion takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and wooden vats, with meticulous attention paid to each plot. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels.
The 2021 Clarence de Haut-Brion is then aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new. This process adds complexity, texture, and aging potential, while preserving the purity of the fruit.
