The Château Pichon Baron vineyard stretches across gravelly and clay-limestone soils, characteristic of the Pauillac appellation. These unique terroirs, bathed in an oceanic climate, promote optimal grape ripening. The vines, some several decades old, benefit from ideal sun exposure, resulting in high-quality grapes bursting with flavor. The diversity of grape varieties cultivated on the estate contributes to the complexity of the wines, with each plot lending its own distinct identity to the blend.

    Owner and history

Today, Château Pichon Baron belongs to the Rouzaud family, who also own the renowned Champagne house Louis Roederer. Since acquiring it in 1980, they have preserved the estate's heritage while breathing new life into it. Their vision is clear: to produce wines that tell the story of the Pauillac terroir while respecting the environment. Thanks to their passion and expertise, Pichon Baron continues to shine on the world wine stage.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Griffons de Pichon Baron is carried out with the utmost care. The grapes, harvested by hand, are rigorously sorted before being destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing for perfect temperature control. Aging in oak barrels (some of which are new) lasts approximately 12 months, imparting structure and complexity to the wine. This meticulous winemaking process reflects the estate's commitment to producing exceptional wines, blending tradition and innovation.
