Tasting notes

The 2015 Cuvée Ségla reveals a deep red color with garnet highlights. The nose, expressive and refined, blends aromas of black fruit, blackcurrant, and cherry, with woody and vanilla nuances from its barrel aging. On the palate, the attack is supple, the texture velvety, and the tannins well-integrated. The persistent finish reveals a lovely freshness and depth that testifies to the care taken in crafting this cuvée.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a rack of roast lamb, duck breast or aged cheeses.

Producer

The Château Rauzan-Ségla vineyard covers 70 hectares in the heart of the Margaux appellation, on deep gravelly soils resting on a clay-limestone subsoil. These ideal conditions allow the noble grape varieties of the Médoc to fully express their typicity. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices, promoting a natural balance and respecting the environment. This meticulous approach results in concentrated grapes, essential to the quality of the Ségla cuvée.

Owner and history

Since its acquisition by Chanel, Château Rauzan-Ségla has undergone a profound transformation. Under the direction of Nicolas Audebert, formerly of Krug and Cheval des Andes, the estate has reclaimed its place among the greats of Margaux. His objective is clear: to produce refined wines, true to their terroir, while incorporating the most demanding modern practices. This constant commitment to excellence is reflected in each vintage, and particularly in the precision of the Ségla cuvée.

Vinification and aging

The estate produces its wines with a precise, plot-by-plot approach. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months of aging in French oak barrels, approximately 30% of which are new, ensuring structure and complexity.
The Ségla 2015 vintage benefits from the same care as the grand vin: each batch is vinified separately before a meticulous blending, revealing a harmonious Margaux, ready to drink but also able to age for several years.
