    Description

The Jacquesson Champagne house, located in Dizy in the Marne Valley, is among the most respected in Champagne. Founded in 1798 and brilliantly revived by the Chiquet family, it distinguishes itself through its artisanal approach, low yields, and unwavering commitment to quality. The climate of Avize and the chalky terroir of the Champ Cain vineyard, situated in the Grand Cru Côte des Blancs, give rise to a rare single-vineyard cuvée. The Jacquesson Avize Champ Cain 2013 Champagne expresses with finesse the unique character of Chardonnay on this exceptional terroir, combining purity, verticality, and complexity.

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2013 vintage displays a pale gold color, with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose reveals a beautiful depth, with aromas of citrus zest, damp chalk, and well-integrated oak. On the palate, the attack is direct and taut, then gives way to a chalky, saline texture of rare precision. The finish, persistent and ethereal, reveals a noble minerality and remarkable length, true to the Grand Cru terroir of Avize.

    Food & wine pairings

Perfect on a scallop carpaccio, roast turbot or truffled poultry, it also enhances hard cheeses.

Champ Cain is a Grand Cru vineyard located in Avize, on the Côte des Blancs. Planted exclusively with Chardonnay, it rests on pure chalk soils, imparting a crystalline minerality to the wine. The vines, cultivated using sustainable farming practices, benefit from an optimal southeast exposure, promoting slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. This exceptional terroir is the source of one of the greatest Blanc de Blancs wines of Champagne.

    Owner and history

Led by Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, Maison Jacquesson embodies a unique vision of Champagne, focused on excellence and transparency. Their commitment to producing single-vineyard Champagnes in limited quantities reflects a strong dedication to respecting the terroir and practicing precise viticulture. Thanks to their meticulous work and independent spirit, they have elevated Jacquesson to the forefront of the region, with cuvées sought after by discerning wine lovers worldwide.

    Vinification and aging

At Jacquesson, winemaking relies on natural methods, with fermentations in old oak casks and no chaptalization. Aging on fine lees lasts approximately 36 months, without malolactic fermentation, to preserve the wine's energy.
The 2013 Avize Champ Cain vintage is vinified separately, without blending, allowing the precise expression of the terroir to be revealed. Bottling is carried out without dosage, highlighting the pure expression of the vineyard site.
