The Château d'Yquem vineyards stretch across clay-limestone soils, benefiting from a unique microclimate. The proximity of the Ciron River creates morning mists, promoting the concentration of the grapes. The vines, some several decades old, are carefully cultivated to obtain overripe grapes, essential for the production of these sweet wines. Each plot is worked in a way that respects the natural balance, guaranteeing consistent and exceptional quality.

Owner and history

Château d'Yquem is currently owned by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), which acquired the estate in 1999. Under the leadership of Antoine Arnault, the Yquem team continues to preserve the heritage and reputation of this legendary wine. The current owners are committed to maintaining traditions while innovating, in order to produce wines that reflect the excellence and uniqueness of the terroir. Each bottle of Yquem tells a story, that of a place and a unique expertise.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château d'Yquem is a meticulous process. The grapes, harvested by hand in several passes, are carefully selected. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks, then in oak barrels. Aging lasts from 18 months to 3 years, depending on the vintage, allowing the wine to develop its aromatic complexity. The final blending is carried out with rigor, guaranteeing a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity.
