Owner and history

Château d'Yquem covers 113 hectares, exclusively dedicated to the production of sweet wine. The soil, composed of gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil, ensures excellent drainage and allows for the slow ripening of the grapes. This unique terroir, combined with the morning mists from the Garonne and Ciron rivers, promotes the development of Botrytis cinerea, the noble fungus that concentrates the sugars and enhances the complexity of the aromas. The 2022 vintage was marked by extreme weather conditions: drought, intense heat, and a tense harvest. Despite this, thanks to meticulous work and a perfect understanding of the terroir, Château Yquem was able to make the most of this year to produce a wine of rare intensity.

Vinification and aging

After a highly selective harvest (from September 20th to October 26th, 2022), the grapes were gently pressed. Fermentation took place in new oak barrels, refining the texture and imparting subtle aromas. The wine then underwent 24 months of aging in oak barrels, ensuring a harmonious structure and exceptional aging potential.
